Free Boy Scout uniforms to be handed out next week in Waterville

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - If you know someone in Boy Scouts who's in need of a uniform, you're in luck.

Goodwill Northern New England and the Commissioner for K-Valley District of the Boy Scouts is working to make sure no Boy Scout goes without a uniform.

A new scouting uniform can cost anywhere from $60 to $75, which prevents many boys from being able to scout.

Next week, they'll hold a uniform drive at the Waterville Goodwill store.

We're told there are 200 uniforms ready to give out to scouts.

"There's a lot of youth in this area that come from disadvantaged families, and the whole purpose of this is to help those kids get uniforms for scouting and this is the beginning of the scouting year, and people are getting into scouting and we want them to come out and get uniforms and match all the others kids, and feel like they are part of the team," explained District Volunteer, Chris Bernier.

The drive will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th.

Parents need to bring their Scout's registration form.

Kids will also be able to register for scouts during the drive.
