BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Bangor Parks and Recreation kicked off Halloweekend with the return of the Touch-a-Truck and Treat event.

The free event had more than 30 participants competing for best vehicle and handing out candy. WABI’s Morgan Sturdivant and Mark Rediker also were there to pass out sweets.

Kids filled their candy bags, and families connected with local businesses, organizations and emergency services.

“It’s really incredible to see the turnout so far, and I love that there’s a competition and I love that we have the Jeeps here, that’s pretty exciting, and like you said the firetruck just pulled in so, super pumped for that,” said Chelsie Smith, coordinator for Bangor Parks and Recreation.

The event was held at Lot J of the Cross Insurance Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
