AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine (WABI) - Officials are hoping to curb a rabies issue seen in raccoons in Aroostok County.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture will begin distributing oral rabies vaccine baits in the county this week.
The USDA is working with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the Maine CDC.
Officials say crews will spread nearly 600-thousand bait cubes by air in rural areas.
According to Maine DHHS, the bait will be dropped between Wednesday, August 12 and Monday, August 24.
