BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Good evening, and happy Monday everyone. Skies are partly to mostly clear across Maine late this evening with temperatures varying from the low 40s in spots along the coast and Downeast, to the mid 50s for a few northern locations. Visibility is good, and winds remain below 10 mph statewide.

A few clouds during the start of the night will dissipate by midnight, with clear skies in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Lows overnight will vary throughout the 30s, with SE gusts only reaching 15 mph. Some patchy frost can’t be ruled out in spots.

By Tuesday night, greater amounts of cloud cover will fill in with a few showers entering some Downeast spots by sunrise on Wednesday. Skies will be cloudy across most of the state on Wednesday, apart from a few locations farther to the northwest, where some breaks in clouds are possible. A few scattered rain showers are possible, most likely Downeast, before becoming more widespread Wednesday night. Highs on Wednesday will vary from the mid 40s to upper 50s with SE gusts reaching 20-25 mph.

Thursday and Friday look to be the wettest days of the week as a large and slow moving upper-level low is expected to settle in. This system will likely enter throughout the day on Thursday with widespread rain and even a few thunderstorms possible in spots farther to the South. Skies will be cloudy with some patchy fog. Widespread rain is expected to continue Thursday night into Friday morning, before tapering off from South to North throughout the day on Friday. High temps will be cool, in the 40s and low 50s both days with strengthening winds, gusting up to 35 mph. Rainfall totals across the two days will reach 1-2 inches statewide.
