BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Hot and humid will be the theme for our Friday. More humid air has moved into the state which will make for a more tropical feeling day today with dew points in the mid to upper 60s on average and a few spots even seeing dew points in the low 70s. High temperatures will be similar to yesterday with temps reaching the mid to upper 80s along the coast and upper 80s to low 90s inland. Heat index values will feel like it’s in the mid to upper 90s in spots this afternoon... away from the coast. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds today. There may be enough instability for a few isolated showers or thunderstorms to pop up this afternoon but overall the chances look very minimal so not expecting much. Severe weather is not expected but any showers or thunderstorms that develop could produce very heavy rainfall. Any showers and thunderstorms that develop will this afternoon will fizzle out this evening. Clouds will increase during the night tonight and we’ll see an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms after midnight as an upper-level disturbance approaches. It’ll be warm and humid tonight with lows only dropping to the 60s to around 70°.

An upper-level disturbance will cross the state during the morning and early afternoon on Saturday. This will bring us more clouds and a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms during that timeframe as well. Severe weather is not expected but any showers and thunderstorms could produce very heavy rainfall. As the disturbances moves to our east during the afternoon.... skies are expected to brighten. With the warm and humid air in place... we’ll continue the chance for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms through the evening hours although the best chance will be during the morning and a lesser chance during the afternoon. With more clouds and the shower chances Saturday... it’ll be a bit cooler than previous days with highs in the mid-70s to low 80s Saturday afternoon. It’ll be very humid still with dewpoints in the upper 60s to low 70s on average. A cold front is forecast to cross the state Sunday giving us another chance for some scattered showers and thunderstorms under a mix of sun and clouds. The best chance for any showers and thunderstorms Sunday will be from late morning through the afternoon. It’ll be warm and very humid again Sunday with highs mainly in the low to mid-80s and dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s. Drier... less humid air will move in behind the cold front... making for a more comfortable day Monday. Monday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. A disturbance coming into the area may bring some more showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday. Highs on Tuesday will top off in the mid-70s to low 80s.
