PORTLAND, Maine (WABI) - Portland’s Cross Insurance Arena hosted a pair of state boys hockey championships.

York-Biddeford-Old Orchard Beach started the day with a 3-2 win over Hampden Academy-Ellsworth-MDI-Nokomis in Class B.

Henry Ober, Bronson Eldredge, and Brett Aceto scored in the second period to give the Wildcats a 3-0.

The Broncos’ Wyatt Allen made it a 3-1 game through two periods.

Aiden MacFarline got the Broncos within one late in the third with an extra attacker on, but the Wildcats were able to seal the deal for a 3-2 victory.

The Class A championship was next up between defending state champion Thornton Academy and Cheverus-Yarmouth, which had won the last two Class B state titles.

The Trojans came out on top, 2-1.

Cheverus-Yarmouth struck first thanks to a Connor St. George breakaway in the second period.

Brennan Tabor tied it for T.A. in the third before Jake Skillings scored the eventual game-winner short-handed, giving the Trojans the repeat with the 2-1 final score.
