George Stevens Academy captures Class D State Volleyball Championship

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - No. 1 George Stevens Academy swept No. 3 Woodland to win the Class D State Volleyball Championship on Friday night at Husson’s Newman Gymnasium.

The Eagles won the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-13

“Unbelievable, it’s awesome. We’ve worked our butts off for this. All of us spent the entire day together because we had a half day of school. The nerves shook off as soon as we got on the court. We’ve worked so hard for this. It’s just, it’s an amazing feeling. Especially for the six seniors, it’s our last game. This is all that we’ve been working for,” said Taylor Grego, senior outside hitter.

It’s the Eagles’ first Gold Volleyball.
