Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce seeking community support for ‘Pasta Drive’

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - For those at the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, it’s Noodle-Vember.

That’s because when you walk into the chamber in Bangor, you’ll see thousands of pounds of pasta, all thanks to community members and organizations.

The chamber, which serves 21 communities, decided to do a pasta drive after seeing food insecurity increase in surrounding communities.

Not only did they want to figure out a way to help, but area businesses and leaders voiced the same desire to give back.

The response has been overwhelming as loads of pasta, sauce, and even parmesan cheese have been donated to distribute to area food pantries.

“It’s really a wonderful opportunity to do something, and we thought pasta was great because it’s got a long shelf-life, it’s easy to prepare, and, you know, one package will feed a family, so if you’d like to participate, you can bring it right over to the chamber, or we’ll even come and get it, and we have some businesses like Bangor Public Library, Cross Insurance, for example, they’re conducting their own pasta drive and then bringing the collection to us,” said Deb Neuman, the president and CEO of the chamber.

They will be collecting items until December 5, and again, if you have a large donation, they will coordinate a time to meet you.
