BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Bangor International Airport is getting a huge financial boost.

Sen. Susan Collins announced she has secured $5.5 million for the airport to be used to reconstruct pavement on two taxiways.

“This project will help ensure the airfield continues to safely and efficiently support commercial, cargo, military, and general aviation operations for years to come,” said Bangor International Airport Director Jose Saavedra.

Bangor International Airport will be closing the runway for repairs for a few days during September.

The runway will be closed to all planes between September 21 at 8 a.m. and September 24 at 3 p.m.

If you have a flight scheduled for that time, you should contact your airline.
