Back on Track: Crews rebuild Orono line after weekend derailment

ORONO, Maine (WABI) - CSX crews are in the home stretch of clearing and rebuilding the tracks in Orono after a weekend train derailment near Penobscot Valley Country Club.

Following a massive recovery effort—including venting a carbon dioxide tank car and hoisting wreckage with heavy cranes—all cars were re-railed by midnight Monday.

Crews were actively laying fresh ties and reconstructing rails, with plans to remove the final cars and restore service by Tuesday evening.
