SHIRLEY, Maine (WABI) - A business owner in Shirley is being treated after being shot Monday morning.

Police were called to North Pointe Farm and Garden on Greenville Road before 7 a.m.

According to Chief Deputy Todd Lyford of the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office, the 29-year old adult female was taken to the hospital after being shot.

Her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening

"I do know the victim and the suspect do know each other, although I don't believe it's domestic related at this point," says Lyford.

Lyford says some sort of family conflict led up to the shooting but he was not able to elaborate.

According to Maine State Police, 24-year old Christopher Hallowell was arrested in Albion about an hour after the shooting. He is now charged with attempted murder.

The Bath man is accused of leading troopers on a short chase.

State Police were looking for Hallowell in connection with the Shirley incident. Hallowell was arrested a gunpoint after his vehicle crashed at the intersection of Clark and WInslow Roads in Albion.

Hallowell was not injured. He was taken to the Piscataquis County jail.
