NEW YORK (WABI) - A man has been arrested for allegedly making death threats to Senator Susan Collins.

According to the New York Post, 74-year-old Ronald DeRisi of Smithtown, New York, was taken into custody on Friday.

Authorities say that DeRisi made multiple calls to the offices of both Collins and Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa and made death threats, citing the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as the reason.

DeRisi was arrested without incident.

The judge in the case has ordered a psychological evaluation.

There was no indication that these threats are related to the threatening letter that Collins husband received at the couple’s home last week.
