BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Gardiner Tigers captured their first-ever Class C state volleyball championship on Saturday.

Gardiner swept MDI, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18, to win it all.

Lila Anderson said she couldn’t ask for a better team to finish her career with a state title.

“We just kept saying ‘leave it all on the court. We have to give every single thing we have and just dominate,’ and we did. I felt it right when we walked on the court that we were going to take it. We knew this would be a good rematch. It’s amazing. It’s a dream. We worked so hard. It just feels so awesome,” said Anderson, senior middle blocker.

Last year, the Tigers lost to the Trojans in the state final, 3-1.
