Maggots, roaches seen at airline catering facility
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (CNN) - Workers at an airline catering facility near Los Angeles International Airport are raising alarms about alleged unsanitary conditions.
A union representing employees at Flying Food Group has filed a safety complaint, urging state inspectors to investigate.
It alleges workers have observed cockroaches and other vermin in food preparation areas and near airline food carts.
One employee said she opened dish carts to find decomposing food covered in what appeared to be mold, maggots and flies.
She claims a supervisor ordered her to clean the dishes for reuse on an upcoming flight.
Flying Food Group says it is reviewing the allegations and cooperating with regulators.
The company has nearly 20 catering facilities across the U.S. and supplies some of the world’s largest airlines.
