Frontrunner Bobby Charles greets Hampden voters on Primary Day as GOP governor’s race nears decision

HAMPDEN, Maine (WABI) - As voters continue piling into polling centers around the state, candidates are making their final cases.

While most gubernatorial candidates were in Southern Maine Tuesday, Republican Bobby Charles spent part of Primary Day greeting voters in Hampden.

Charles spoke with residents as they came to vote and encouraged people to make their voices heard in the primary.

“I think part of what we need to do is constantly show that we are engaged and responsive to what people need. So, part of it is just meeting people to talk to them. I just want to thank them for coming out to vote, because that’s a big part of how our civic society holds together. I believe the number one thing we need back in Maine is integrity and trust in our state government. That’s across the board,” he said.

Most polls have had Charles leading the crowded race of seven Republicans.
