Firefighter killed in Searsmont explosion identified

SEARSMONT, Maine (WABI) — The firefighter killed in Friday’s explosion in Searsmont has been identified.

The chief medical examiner has identified the firefighter as 27-year-old Morrill firefighter Andrew Cross.

“Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with the firefighter’s family, loved ones, and colleagues during this devastating time,” State Fire Marshal Shawn Esler said.

The State Police Honor Guard assisted Saturday morning with the honorable transfer of Cross.
