Bangor Ballet performs its rendition of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ this weekend

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Bangor Ballet is performing its annual Spring show this weekend.

This year the group is presenting The Wizard of Oz at the Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High school.

The girls and boys have been practicing for months now, as their last show was the Nutcracker in December.

Executive Director Mckenzie D’Angelo says that when you have a cohesive group like she does working day in and day out together, the process is hard not to enjoy.

“Just being a part of it and seeing the kids that come through the company and how much it meant to them, because classical ballet especially in a rural area, is not very prevalent. It’s very hard to sustain that level of training outside of a major city, so to have that opportunity here for these kids, there’s nothing like it,” she said.

The performances will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
