Maine teacher releases first book in new science fiction series
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Teacher and science fiction author Theresa B. Cyr returns to the WABI Book Club with her the first book in her new series, “Garnet: An Aspen Marcus Series.”
Summary:
“Aspen is a middle school teacher who has relocated from Aroostook County to Western Maine after a difficult breakup. She loves shopping at yard sales, estate sales, and the like, and ends up purchasing an antique garnet ring that she feels an unusual draw towards. She wears the ring to bed that first night and meets Garnet, a beautiful woman who appears to be bound to the ring. This is the beginning of Aspen’s adventures.
“Aspen enlists the help of her recently acquired friend and coworker, Oli, and the local jewelry store owner, Jim. Together, they learn about life, love, loss, and new beginnings while skirting the supernatural throughout their adventure.
“Now that Aspen, Oli, and Jim have experienced dealing with the spirit world together, what other adventures await them?”
In addition to “Garnet: An Aspen Marcus Series,” Cyr also recently published “I Am Not Okay.” It’s a book written with teens and young adults in mind. However, Cyr says anyone struggling with tough feelings, especially in these difficult times, can benefit from it.
Cyr’s previous visit on the Book Club was in 2024 with here three-book “Unintended Travelers” series.
Cyr is a full-time middle school teacher. She is originally from Aroostook County but moved to Western Maine a few years ago.
