Piscataquis County Sheriff to retire after four decades of service

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (WABI) - The Piscataquis County Sheriff plans to retire at the end of the year.

Sheriff Bob Young made the announcement on Facebook Thursday.

Young has worked with Piscataquis County for 42 years, the last seven as sheriff.

Young started as a corrections officer and dispatcher.

He said at the start of his career with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office, he was only planning to stay with the force for a few years.

Young says he will miss the people of Piscataquis County, and he hopes to leave a strong department for the next sheriff.
