BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A familiar face is taking over the top leadership role at St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor.

Covenant Health System announced this week Gregory LaFrancois is joining the organization as senior vice president. He will also take on the role of president of St. Joseph Healthcare.

As of April 1, LaFrancois stepped into the role previously occupied by Mary Prybylo, who announced her retirement in January after 14 years as president.

Most recently, LaFrancois served as president of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, but resigned last October after a little more than a year on the job.

In a statement, he said: “I am inspired by St. Joseph’s Mission of caring for the whole person, in service to all in our communities. I look forward to working alongside colleagues who have been called to healthcare, particularly to meet the needs of our underserved neighbors. Together, we can advance our vision of delivering the best care to every patient, every time.”
