EDDINGTON, Maine (WABI) - An Eddington man is facing federal charges after authorities say he made online threats targeting Jews, political figures, the Supreme Court, and others.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine says 50-year-old Thadius Wind was arrested Tuesday and charged with transmitting an interstate threat.

According to investigators, Meta, which owns Facebook, sent information to the FBI last year about a user who discussed committing violence against police and the military.

Members of the public also tipped off the FBI about threatening statements a user was making on X.

Agents say they traced both accounts back to Wind.

In addition to the FBI, the Secret Service is also investigating the case with help from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Wind is well-known to local authorities. He’s been accused of causing multiple standoffs in both Eddington and Old Town in recent years, and deputies say they responded to his Eddington home more than a dozen times over a period of nine months last year.
