Battle of the Badges basketball game set for Dec. 8 at Noon

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - The Waterville Fire and Police Departments will be facing off in a basketball game on Dec. 8 at Noon to fundraise for the Alfond Youth & Community Center’s Unified Champions Club and Pay-What-You-Can Programs.

Both sides are ready for the rivalry for a great cause.

“This is going to be great. We love raising money for the community, helping the community out, but of course, the fire department usually has better athletes,” said Jason Frost, Waterville Fire Chief.

“I think (the fire department having better athletes) is untrue. The fire department is also full of it. We agree wholeheartedly that the Boys & Girls Club YMCA here at the Alfond Youth & Community Center is great for the community. We love helping out the kids when we can, and we want to get as many people here to enjoy this program as we can,” said William Bonney, Waterville Police Chief.
