Samantha Cavalli

Samantha Cavalli is thrilled to tell stories in Northeast Wisconsin as part of the WBAY Action 2 News team. Originally from Ocean Township, New Jersey, Samantha brings a passion for meaningful storytelling and a strong background in breaking news and enterprise reporting.

Since joining Action 2 News, Samantha has covered several high-profile cases, including the search for Elijah Vue in Two Rivers and the case of Ryan Borgwardt—a Watertown, Wisconsin man who faked his own death in Green Lake to start a new life overseas. Her breaking news coverage of the Elijah Vue case earned an Eric Sevareid Award of Merit from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, along with multiple Wisconsin Broadcasters Awards. Her reporting on the Borgwardt case was also featured nationally on ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir and Good Morning America.

Before coming to Green Bay, Samantha spent two years at Gray Television station WTAP in Parkersburg, West Virginia. There, she anchored the weekend 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts and reported during the week. In May 2021, she was promoted to weeknight anchor for the 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts—a role she held until February 2023.

Samantha is a May 2020 graduate of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications, where she earned a degree in journalism with a minor in Sport Studies. While in college, she worked for the award-winning student newspaper The Ithacan, rising to Assistant Sports Editor and co-hosting the sports podcast How IC Sports. In 2018, the New York Press Association named Samantha and her editor Best Sports Coverage for a college newspaper. She also covered the ECAC Division I men’s hockey championship in Lake Placid and completed internships with the New Jersey Jackals and Fox Sports Radio’s The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker.

When she’s not chasing stories, Samantha enjoys watching TV, playing video games, traveling, and cheering on her favorite teams—the New York Yankees and New York Jets. She’s also a proud Disney fan. Now living full-time in Wisconsin, Samantha is planning her wedding to fiancé Austin and has started cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers—unless, of course, they’re playing her hometown teams.
