CALAIS, Maine (WABI) - A man who was shot by police in Calais in June has been indicted on three counts of attempted murder.

Abinadi White was also indicted by a Washington County grand jury on several other charges including attempted assault on an officer, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and violating conditions of release.

In June, police officers were trying to arrest White after a traffic stop, but police say White refused arrest, grabbed a sword, and swung it at officers.

Two officers then shot White ending the confrontation.

White was taken to the hospital.

Both officers were placed on leave as is standard procedure, and the Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate.
