Man arrested after allegedly assaulting an EMS worker in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A man was taken into custody after officials say he assaulted an EMS worker in Bangor.

First responders were called in to assist with an “incident” at Davenport Park Monday evening, according to Bangor Police.

During the response, Perry Newell, 36, kicked an EMS worker in the head causing injury, authorities said.

Newell, a transient, already had 17 active sets of bail conditions before this incident, police said.

He is being charged with assault on a emergency medical services person and violating conditions of release.
