Not As Hot Or As Humid This Weekend
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - After today, it will not be as hot or as humid.
Skies will remain mostly clear for the first part of the night as overnight lows range from the 60s to the low 70s. It will be warm and muggy with dew points remaining in the 60s, and areas of fog are possible.
During the second half of the night, showers including a few downpours and thunderstorms will move into the west and spread eastward into Saturday morning.
Saturday: Rain Early, Few PM Storms
Saturday will start with much-needed rainfall. Pockets of heavy rain including a few thunderstorms are possible in the morning, ending from west to east. However, Downeast communities may see some rainfall continue through the early afternoon.
The rainfall will add more moisture to the atmosphere, making it even more humid. Dew points for many will be in the 60s and low 70s. By afternoon, breaks in the clouds will allow temperatures to warm into the 70s and low to mid 80s. When you factor in the humidity, it will feel like you’re in a sauna at times.
A cold front will bring scattered showers and storms to the region during the afternoon, ending by sunset. Expect areas of fog throughout the night.
Sunday: Afternoon Storm Chances
Sunday will be the drier day of the weekend, though not entirely dry. Another cold front will move into the northwest, bringing a chance of afternoon storms for those in the north and west. A few storms could become strong to severe
For coastal communities, a stronger sea breeze will help push more stable air onshore and should mitigate any rainfall threat. As storms move from northwest to southeast, they will weaken and fizzle out before reaching the coast.
Highs will be back into the 80s with dew points in the low to mid 60s. Once the front passes, less humid air will settle in for the start of next week.
