STETSON, Maine (WABI) - A former Stetson man will spend five years behind bars for possessing firearms as a felon.

This after a judge declared a mistrial in a 1986 murder case against the same man earlier this year.

Marc Karun, 61, pleaded guilty to the gun possession charge more than two years ago.

Court records say police found more than 60 guns and 14,000 rounds of ammunition in Karun’s Stetson home.

They say one rifle had the serial number removed.

Karun was barred from possessing guns due to felony convictions out of Connecticut.

Those prior convictions include sexual assault and burglary.

Karun was also arrested in 2019 at his home in Stetson in connection with a murder case in Connecticut that went cold.

According to Connecticut officials, Kathleen Flynn was kidnapped and murdered in 1986.

Karun was on trial for the murder, however, a judge declared a mistrial in April because of potential evidence contamination.

Authorities say a Connecticut state crime lab official told a police officer that Flynn was put in a used body bag.
