Maine Veterans Project gifts car to a veteran

BREWER, Maine (WABI) - A Maine veteran has a new ride thanks to the Maine Veterans Project and Twin City Tire in Brewer.

On Wednesday, MVP gave the keys to a veteran who asked to remain anonymous.

MVP and Twin City Tire have worked together for the last ten years as almost every vehicle donated comes to their shop first.

This vehicle donation marks the fourth one this season, and it went to a veteran who has needed a vehicle since December.

“Vehicles in the state of Maine mean mental health, they mean groceries, they mean medical appointments. I mean, you absolutely must have a vehicle in rural Maine. So honestly, it’s one of my favorite programs that we have, and I think it’s one of the most important things that we can do for a veteran,” said Doc Goodwin, president of the Maine Veterans Project.

MVP says vehicle donations have slowed down recently, and they encourage anyone with a car they’d like to donate to reach out to them.
