Fire department in Connecticut donates fire apparatus to Searsmont Fire & Rescue

SEARSMONT, Maine (WABI) - Searsmont Fire & Rescue has received a gift from some fellow firefighters in another state.

In a social media post, the North Thompsonville Fire Department from Connecticut announced that they have donated a fire apparatus to Searsmont Fire & Rescue.

The donation comes after Searsmont Fire & Rescue lost a fire apparatus during the fire at the Robbins Lumber Mill in May.

The following is the full post from the North Thompsonville Fire Department: The Commissioners, Officers & Firefighters of the North Thompsonville Fire Department are proud to announce the donation of one of our fire engines (E42) to the Searsmont Fire Department in Searsmont, Maine.

Recently, the Searsmont Fire Department suffered the devastating loss of a fire apparatus while operating at the Robbins Lumber Mill fire and explosion, which also included multiple injured FF’s as well as a LODD to a mutual aid Firefighter. As firefighters, we understand the critical role every piece of equipment plays in protecting our communities and supporting our members on the fireground.

When we learned of their loss, we knew we had an opportunity to help. It is our honor to place this engine into service where it can continue protecting lives and property while assisting Searsmont in rebuilding their fleet.

The fire service is built on brotherhood, sisterhood, and mutual aid. Whether across town or across state lines, firefighters stand together in times of need. We hope this engine serves the members of the Searsmont Fire Department well for many years to come.
