Riders stuck on Cedar Point roller coaster, leaving them facing straight down, as ride suddenly stops

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) - Some roller coaster riders at Cedar Point were stuck in a scary situation over the weekend.

Photos shared on social media showed riders on the Siren’s Curse stuck on the coaster, as the ride faced straight down on Sunday.

A Cedar Point spokesperson said Siren’s Curse, dubbed the country’s tallest, longest and fastest tiltcoaster, experienced technical delays that caused the ride to stop.

Siren’s Curse also experienced problems on Saturday.

“The coaster experienced technical delays, similar to a check engine light, that paused its operation. Its safety system performed as designed, keeping all guests safe,” the park spokesperson said. “Following a complete systems check, the ride was restarted and guests continued their ride as normal.”

Siren’s Curse opened in 2025. Cedar Point says the tilt coaster goes 160 feet in the air and reaches speeds of nearly 60 mph.
