AMBER alert issued for 5-year-old girl abducted by 41-year-old man, officials say

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KVVU/Gray News) — An AMBER Alert has been issued for a 5-year-old girl who was reportedly abducted from a Nevada home early Monday morning.

According to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, 5-year-old Amaya Meithof was taken from a home in Carson City, about 30 miles south of Reno.

The suspect involved is 41-year-old Christopher Meithof, though his relationship to Amaya is unclear.

Police said he is driving a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Oregon license plate 576 QNU.

Christopher Meithof was last seen traveling southbound toward Quartz Hill, California.

He is 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds.

Police also noted that the child has common allergies.
