SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU/Gray News) - An Indiana man is singing praises for two firefighters after a heartwarming moment was caught on video.

Tyler Gillean said he was on a plane waiting for takeoff when he saw a Ring notification with a fire truck in front of his South Bend house.

Gillean said what happened next brought tears to his eyes.

Two South Bend firefighters, identified as Cody MacLeod and Bryan Haskel, were carrying a folded flag to Gillean’s front porch.

Gillean said the flag was torn from the side of his house and blew down the street during a windstorm.

The firefighters not only brought it back to Gillean’s house, but left it neatly folded on his porch.

“The video really speaks for itself how these brave guys look after all of us,” Gillean wrote on Facebook. “Not just when we are in trouble, but always. They could have just stayed in their truck like nothing happened, but they pulled over and did this beautiful gesture.”

Gillean said the moment was made even more special by the fact that it is America’s 250th birthday this year.

“These are the cool acts of patriotism that unify,” Gillean said.
