Fire destroys barn in Milo Sunday

MILO, Maine (WABI) - Fire destroyed a barn in Milo Sunday afternoon.

Milo Fire Department said the call came in just before 12:15 p.m.

They say the barn on Elm Street was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.

The site was not a working barn, the department said, with no animals or people hurt.

An excavator was used to fully extinguish the flames.

Officials said the adjacent farmhouse was saved with the home’s exterior receiving minor damage.

The flames sparked a wildland fire which affected much of the field behind the barn.

Officials believe the fire spanned between two to five acres.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
