Gov. Mills signs bill to protect pregnant hospital patients

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - A bill has been signed into law that will help protect pregnant patients.

The law requires hospitals to provide at least 120 days notice before changing or closing their birthing units.

It comes after multiple birthing centers have closed or plan to close across Maine.

The law will take affect immediately.
