Penobscot Valley wins Class D North girls basketball title

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Penobscot Valley Howlers captured the Class D North Championship, 53-37, over the Machias Bulldogs.

The Howlers are one win away from their second-straight state championship.

“It just shows our grit. Going from that high last year and having a little bit of a tough time this year, it shows our grit and our willingness to work. It’s always harder the second time, and we know what it takes from last year. We know we have to work even harder,” said Lila Cummings, senior forward.

The Howlers will face Mt. Abram in the state title on Saturday at 2:35 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
