Bangor Authors’ Book Fair and Literary Festival returns this Saturday

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The Bangor Authors’ Book Fair and Literary Festival is returning for its fourth year Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Bangor Public Library from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The festival is Maine’s largest author and book event with 100 Maine authors and seven publishers selling and signing books.

Admission is free and there will be free programming, such as talks and panels about writing and publishing. The keynote talk will be from Bangor’s own Tim Cotton where he will discuss his path from police officer to the voice of the Duck of Justice to his life as a writer.

“This festival has quickly become a highlight of the year—not just for authors, but for readers who return again and again,” said Book Fair Director Christopher Packard. “People come to reconnect with favorite writers, discover new books, and experience that incredible sense of community you only get when you put storytellers and readers in the same room. Each year the event grows stronger, and that’s thanks to our dedicated organizing committee, the Bangor Public Library’s partnership, and the generous support of our sponsors who make this celebration possible.”

There will also be activities for kids with many children’s authors reading their books throughout the day. Dirigo Reads is partnering with the event to give out free books to all attending kids ages 0-12 while supplies last. The Maine Girls Scouts will be hosting a craft table for kids.

The event is organized by the nonprofit Bangor Authors’ Collaborative, a volunteer group of authors under the fiscal sponsorship of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance.
