2nd Annual Chris Greeley Classic helps support Holden community program

HOLDEN, Maine (WABI) - Cribbage players gathered Saturday to play cards while helping to raise money for a beloved community program in Holden.

The 2nd annual Chris Greeley Classic Cribbage tournament began at 8am at Holden Elementary school’s gymnasium.

The tournament is named in honor of the late Holden Police Chief Chris Greeley who passed away in 2023.

The event helps to raise money as part of the 25 Days of Kindness program, which Greeley founded to help support the Holden community.

Holden Police Chief Eddie Benjamin says the event continues Greeley’s belief that one small gesture could change a life.

“We have it here in his memory, and to celebrate friendship and having the community come out and play. That’s what he was all about. Having fun with the community and being engaged,” he said.

Also part of the 25 Days of Kindness program, a food drive with the University of Maine’s Men’s Ice Hockey is scheduled for December 6th.

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable foods to be donated for those in need.
