Author Bruce A. Fleming previews first book of ‘Milliken Mills’ series
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Bruce A. Fleming grew up in the Katahdin Region of Maine where he resides again today. He has written poetry, novellas, and novels, including the “Katahdin Mental Institute” novella series and “Milliken Mills” novel series.
“Pressing Matters” is the first book in the “Milliken Mills” series.
Book Summary:
“The book centers around the wealthy Nolan family of the fictional Maine city, Milliken Mills. Nathan Nolan is the owner of a newspaper company which he started from the ground up at the age of 18. He now has a wife that wants to take him for all he’s worth in a divorce, a daughter currently hiding in Europe to avoid the family drama, and a son that wants to kick him out of Nolan Publishing and take over. The first novel, Pressing Matters, takes place around the annual Nolan Publishing party to celebrate all things Nolan and all the drama comes to a head when someone ends up dead.”
Fleming says inspiration for this series came from old school nighttime soaps “Dallas” and “Melrose Place.” He says back then everyone gathered because they couldn’t wait to find out what some wild character was going to do next. Fleming tells us that the character of Nathan Nolan was definitely in the vein of JR Ewing, and Tommy and Lacy were meant to be my versions of Melrose’s Michael and Sydney.
