Waterville’s Alfond Municipal Pool prepares to open for summer

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) - Waterville’s Alfond Municipal Pool is opening for the summer this Friday.

Featuring a slide and a section for smaller swimmers, the Waterville pool site is looking to provide a ton of fun in the sun this summer.

The Waterville Parks and Recreation Department has been working to get the pool ready for the community.

We got a chance to talk with some of the staff about opening day.

”We’re just very excited to welcome as many people here as possible over the summer, and it’s going to be great. We’ve been prepping for the outdoor pool since January of this year, so a lot of thought has been put into it. We are looking to streamline a few processes and make sure that it’s going to be as efficient, welcoming and enjoyable for as many people as possible,” said Ben Collins, aquatics director.

If you’re looking to take advantage of the summer sun in Waterville, pool hours are 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

For the weekend, the pool will open 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
