Versant Power preparing for another storm
Maine (WABI) - With a storm approaching and anticipated strong winds, people worry about power outages especially so soon after thousands of Mainers lost power for days during a big storm in December.
TV5 spoke with Versant Power as they prepare for Wednesday’s storm.
Versant says it has rounded up over 100 internal and external crews as well as tree crews in anticipation of wide spread power outages.
They say they do expect multi-day restoration efforts based on the current forecast.
Versant officials are predicting clean up efforts will be able to begin sooner then the storm in December due to winds slowing at an earlier hour.
“During a storm event, any scheduled maintenance and other non-related tasks, we put those on on hold. Our crews address and prioritize public safety concerns first, such as downed lines or trees on lines. They then begin assessing and restoring service to circuits that bring the most customers back online at one time,” said Tina Morrill, Communication Specialist at Versant Power.
Versant reminds people not to touch any downed wires and to slow down when approaching a work crew.
In case of any emergency, people can call 211.
