Snowmobile group tees up Hermon golf scramble to support local clubs

HOLDEN, Maine (WABI) - This Saturday is an opportunity for winter sports enthusiasts to get out on the greens.

The Maine Snowmobile Association is hosting its 10th annual Golf Scramble at Hermon Meadow.

They’re looking for 36 teams of four to come out Saturday to help raise money for local snowmobile clubs.

Eileen Lafland, Executive Vice President of the Maine Snowmobile Association, says it’s a chance to bring together snowmobile enthusiasts from all over the state who volunteer their time and money to keep the trails usable for the public.

“Most clubs in the state put in a lot more money to keep their trails maintained than they get back, so it’s a way for us to help support those clubs and get people to understand snowmobiling is a big business in Maine, and those clubs are all run just like this golf scramble- all run off of volunteers,” Lafland said. “None of us are getting paid to do this.“

Sign in starts this Saturday at 7:30 a.m. rain or shine, with a shotgun start at 9.

The event is open to all skill levels.
