Operations resume at Bangor International Airport

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - As of Thursday at noon, operations resumed at Bangor International Airport following Sunday’s plane crash that claimed the lives of six people.

Airport personnel inspected the ground support equipment to ensure operations resume safely and efficiently. Travelers could be seen crowding around the TSA line starting at a little before the opening.

Gabrielle Martin of Bucksport was at BGR heading to Minnesota. She says she was saddened by the tragic event and through it all airport officials were very helpful.

“We feel really bad for the families and stuff that were involved so but even through the chaos, everyone has been informative as much as they can and been really kind and great so, really hospitable,” Martin said.

Martin’s significant other, James Albright, emphasized the importance of being kind to one another, especially during difficult times. “You don’t need to go verbal with everybody I mean they’re doing their best to help us and yeah the app kind of failed but the people, they stepped up.”

As for the investigation, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner has received the remains of the victims from the plane crash and are actively working to confirm identities.

They hope to provide more information Friday.
