2025 Election brings high turnout across Maine
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - There was a high voter turnout across the state of Maine today.
Bangor in particular saw long lines throughout the day.
Besides the two statewide referendums, Bangor voters chose three city councilors from a group of nine candidates.
Four candidates were also running for two seats on the school committee.
Bangor city clerk Lisa Goodwin says the turnout surpassed expectations for an “off-year” election.
“It’s been steady. It’s picking up now as everybody is getting out of work so we’re up over 3,700 people right now so, I mean, it’s a good number for today,” she said.
Goodwin also added that she believes the two referendum questions are a big part of what drove today’s high turnout.
