ETNA, Maine (WABI) - An Etna woman accused of killing her boyfriend at their home Friday appeared in court briefly through zoom Monday.

Heidi Tasker, 36, is charged with murder for the death of Luke Norris, 41.

During the hearing Monday, Tasker frequently said she hasn’t been able to talk to a lawyer, needed to go to the hospital, and needed her medication.

Her lawyer said court records suggest Tasker stopped taking her medication at some point before being taken into custody.

The judge said she could get medical attention and access to medication while in jail.

“Does Miss Tasker understand what she’s accused of doing,” the judge asked.

“I don’t understand what, how they’re going about it is what I don’t understand,” Tasker replied.

“Okay,” said the judge.

“We’re struggling significantly to focus on what she needs to focus on. Maybe this is not the best day to do this,” said her attorney.

The hearing was rescheduled to sometime next week.

The judge signed a motion for Tasker to undergo a mental competency evaluation to determine if she understands the charge against her.

Tasker is being held without bail.
