UMaine Senior Associate Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts leaving for Denver

ORONO, MAINE (WABI) - UMaine Senior Associate Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts is leaving the school for Denver.
She had her last day today and we spoke to Lynn off camera in her office. This decision was not easy for her and her family discussed it before making the final decision.

Former UMaine Athletic Director Karlton Creech is the current Vice Chancellor of Athletics at the University of Denver. They worked closely during his time at UMaine and he reached out to her about joining his staff with the Pioneers. She went through the hiring process and got the job.

Similarly Creech also asked Lynn to take over as Senior Associate Director of Athletics at Maine in 2015.

Lynn was the head softball coach before that from 2010 to 2015. She still worked as the pitching coach through last season. Her husband Mike is still the Black Bears head softball coach and that's not going to change. Mike will remain in Orono to coach.

Lynn was an All-American pitcher for UMaine in college and a captain for the Black Bears softball team from 1985-87. She told us UMaine and Orono will always be home. But this is a career opportunity she might never get again.....
