Maine Scores Late, Completes Sweep of Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, CT The University of Maine men's hockey team got a goal from Pat Shea with 24.4 seconds to play and earned a 5 to 3 victory at Quinnipiac Saturday night in Connecticut.

The Black Bears trailed by a goal after one before score three unanswered goals in the 2nd. Emil Westerlund (3), Ryan Smith (1) and a shorthanded goal by Tim Doherty (6) made it 3-1 Maine after 2.

Quinnipiac got two goals from Tanner MacMaster in the 3rd to tie it at 3.

But Pat Shea (3) would score the winner on a rebound off a shot by Nolan Vesey to give Maine the 4-3 lead. Cedric Lacroix would tally an empty net goal in the final second of the game.

Maine has won three straight games and are unbeaten in their last 5.

The Black Bears next play at RPI on December 29th and 30th.
