Maine Basketball, Women's Hockey Take Losses on Sunday Afternoon

BANGOR, Maine (WABI)- The UMaine Men's Basketball team hosted Stony Brook at the Cross Center Sunday.

The Bears had three players score in double figures led by Aaron Calixte and his game high 19 points, and he had six assists, but he turned it over five times too.

The Seawolves had four players in double figures, and scored 19 points off Maine turnovers.

Stony Brook held on to beat the bears 64-61, Maine drops to 3-9 in conference.

The Women's team played Stony Brook on the road.

The Black Bears shot 42 percent from the floor, and only missed two foul shots in the entire game.

Blanca Millan led three players in double figures with 21 points and Dor Saar set a new career high with 14 points.

It wasn't enough as Stony Brook snapped Maine's eight game winning streak 76-68.

Albany beat Hartford Sunday so the Bears and Great Danes are tied again atop the conference standings both with a record of 10-3.

The UMaine Women's Hockey team is ranked 9th in the nation, and the bears scored first at Providence Sunday on a goal from Catherine Tufts.

Maine couldn't hold on the Friars tied it late and then scored in overtime to beat the bears 2-1.
