As Special Olympics program funding cuts are discussed, locals train for action in Hampden

HAMPDEN, MAINE (WABI) - Funding for Special Olympics is in danger of being cut nationally.

Special Olympics athletes were in Hampden today at "motor activities training day".

These events are held all over the world and the first of its kind was in Maine in 1987.

Maine Special Olympics Program Director Mark Capano was at the event today. He's retiring this year after 25 years on the job.
