DEBLOIS, Maine. (WABI) - Two years, that's how long it takes for Wyman's Blueberry crops to be harvested.
We're told they have nearly 200 full-time employees and bring in an additional 300 for the harvest.
Homer Woodward, Vice President of Operations said the projection is down because of a combination of heat and other stressors on the crop.
Homer Woodward, Vice President of Operations at Jasper Wyman & Son said, “We are going to be down a little bit, I think in the state of Maine this year from our normal averages. We had quite a few years that we averaged around 100,000,000 pounds a year and we are going to be down probably below 75 million."
Woodward said these particular blueberries are just a week shy from being harvested.
