BANGOR, Maine (WABI) The woman who acted as office manager for the Bangor chapter of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club has been sentenced to six years behind bars, all but one year suspended, for stealing from the group.

The club found that 48-year-old Bessie Small of Carmel stole more than $200,000 over several years.

In court this week, she pleaded no contest.

An audit found that small gave herself extra paychecks, wrote checks to pay off her own personal credit card, and stole from the petty cash fund.

With the statute of limitations for theft being six years, the club, made up of retired and current law enforcement officers, is only able to recover part of the money she stole.

Small has been ordered to repay $127,000.
